Back to RTG Spectrum

Cellular Survey

LTE and 5G NR survey data as source-aware platform events.

Cellular Survey now combines fast cellular state checks, broad LTE/5G inventory, and continuous live signal measurement so observations can feed the same database and shared event layer used by the rest of the RTG Spectrum platform.

Platform module

Cellular observations become repeatable survey evidence.

The module records LTE and 5G NR observations as structured events: role, radio access technology, provider/PLMN, cell identity, PCI, frequency, band, RSRP, RSRQ, RSSI, SINR, timestamp, and location when available. That gives teams a browser workflow for reviewing cellular context alongside WiFi, BLE, RF Sentinel, SDR-Shark, AirScope, and PASSIVE-SHIELD evidence.

What It Contributes

  • Serving-cell and neighbor-cell survey state
  • LTE and 5G NR full-scan inventory views
  • High-rate signal measurement samples for live drive-test behavior
  • Coverage-map points tied to signal measurements
  • Common weak-neighbor ranking and topology review
  • Optional cellular PCAP recordings for offline engineering review
  • Normalized detection events for shared timeline integration

Three complementary cellular views

Fast snapshots, broad inventory, and high-rate live measurements.

Fast State Checks

Serving-cell and neighbor snapshots for quick status review, recent cell context, and lightweight survey polling.

Broad Cell Inventory

LTE and 5G NR scan inventory for seeing more of the detectable environment than the currently camped cell alone.

Live Measurements

Continuous high-rate signal trends with real sub-second RSRP, RSRQ, RSSI, serving-cell state, and reselection tracking.

Live measurement stream

Live measurements move Cellular Survey toward high-resolution drive testing.

The live measurement path adds a continuous source that can update faster than periodic polling. Those observations are normalized into the same database and event pipeline as the other cellular views, so high-rate signal measurements can be reviewed in the UI, mapped over a route, and carried into Trace Analyzer as source-aware cellular events.

Optional cellular PCAP recordings support offline engineering review while keeping the public platform language focused on measured signal and cell-state behavior, not full protocol decoding.

Why It Matters

  • Sub-second signal trend visibility for route-based surveys
  • Serving-cell and reselection history for cellular Pattern-of-Life
  • Better evidence for coverage mapping and weak-neighbor review
  • A stronger input stream for tower or emitter-area estimation
  • A foundation for future location-aware cellular analytics

Trace Analyzer integration

Cellular survey events fit the shared event-plane model.

Cellular Survey uses the same source-aware integration pattern as the other RTG Spectrum modules. Cellular state, inventory, and live signal observations can publish detections into a shared timeline so an operator can compare cellular coverage context with GPS, WiFi, BLE, RF Sentinel, SDR-Shark, AirScope, and defense prototype events.

Claim Boundaries

  • Shown: survey observations, signal metrics, cell inventory, high-rate live measurement streaming, maps, shared events, optional cellular PCAP recording, and UI workflow
  • Not claimed: full cellular protocol decoding, carrier-network access, cellular interception, subscriber tracking, lawful-intercept capability, or production geolocation
  • Public screenshots use synthetic data and generic module naming

What this helps teams do

Add cellular context to RF and wireless decision workflows.

Map coverage context

Review observed LTE and 5G NR cells, high-rate signal metrics, and approximate survey coverage in one browser workflow.

Enable location-aware analytics

Provide route-tagged cellular measurements that can support tower estimation, uncertainty modeling, and follow-on collection planning.

Produce evidence

Capture screenshots, inventory records, ranked neighbors, live measurement streams, PCAP recordings, and event exports that support engineering reviews and prototype pilots.
